T20 World Cup 2022: England schedule, results, squad and likely opponents – Sporting News

England are among the favourites to win the T20 World Cup when they head to Australia for a tournament taking place in October and November.
After winning their group in the 2021 edition, England were knocked out with a five-wicket defeat by New Zealand in their semifinal in Abu Dhabi.
Their performance at that tournament and ranking means England automatically qualified for the Super 12 phase of the 2022 finals.
The Sporting News has the latest details on England’s schedule, results and opponents – and this page will be updated as the tournament continues.

To reach the semi-finals, England need to finish in the top two positions of their Super 12 group of six teams.
England will face Afghanistan, Australia and New Zealand in the Super 12 stage of the T20 World Cup.
They will face the runners-up in Group B in their second match of the tournament, who are likely to be one of Ireland, Scotland or Zimbabwe, with the West Indies expected to win the group.
They will then meet the Group A winners in their final group game, who are expected to be Sri Lanka. The Netherlands, Namibia and the United Arab Emirates are also in Group A.
If England reach the semi-finals, they will face one of the top two teams from the other Super 12 group, with India, Bangladesh, Pakistan or South Africa among their potential opponents.
