Twenty people have been injured in a stampede for tickets for the India-Australia T20 match in southern India, police said.
Thousands of people thronged to counters selling tickets for Sunday’s match in Hyderabad, the capital of Telangana state.
The crush occurred as the tickets sale started at three counters at the Gymkhana grounds in Hyderabad.
Nearly 30,000 people were waiting in long lines to buy 3,000 tickets for the match, and police used batons to try and control the crowd.
Seven of the 20 injured people were hospitalised in a serious condition, one police officer said on condition of anonymity as he was not authorised to talk to reporters.
India are hosting Australia in a three-match T20 series in preparation for the T20 World Cup in Australia next month.
On Tuesday, Australia secured a thrilling four-wicket victory over India in Mohali in the opening match of the series.
The second match is on Friday in Nagpur.
